Eldritch Sprite
Overview
"Eldritch Spire" is a DnD inspired game set on a secluded island, cursed by the summoning rituals of a dark cult. Players take on the role of a prisoner thrust into a world of eldritch horrors, embarking on a quest to thwart the cult's sinister plans and face the eldritch monster unleashed upon the land.
Story
Imprisoned on an island that doubles as the lair of a malevolent cult, you awaken amidst the chaos of their ill-fated ritual. The cult's summoning of an eldritch monster goes awry, leading to a cascade of nightmarish events. As a prisoner, you find yourself entwined in a destiny to unravel the secrets of the cult's rituals and quell the Eldritch menace.
Theme
The way I implemented the theme, it is spreading, is with the corruption of eldritch energy. Humanoids, the different characters the player controls, are exposed to eldritch energy from the summoning of an aberration.
Eldritch Corruption:
Every time a player takes damage, he gains one level of corruption to a maximum of 8. Once a player reaches 8 level of corruption, he takes 4 damage at the end of his turn.
Cure:
Pray is the only way for the player to lower the corruption. During their turn, in the combat phase, the player can use it action to pray to lower the corruption. The amount lower per prayer is 4 levels of corruption.
Action
During the player’s turn, they can use an ability that will use their action and put an end to their turn.
- Action: Use an ability.
- Dodge: Prevent the character from taking damage until their next turn. This do not stop the corruption damage.
- Pray: Reduce the level of corruption
- Wait: skip the turn.
Their abilities are classed in 4 categories.
- T-DAM (target damage): select an enemy to damage.
- A-DAM (areal damage): damage all enemies.
- T-HEAL (target heal): select an ally to heal.
- A-HEAL (areal heal): heal all allies.
Note:
- Some abilities might require you to select a target character or enemy, but in a case where there is one target, the ability will automatically select this target without the need of you selecting it.
- In other cases, some potential target will be excluded from the list of targets (enemy dead or full health character).

Hi! I would give more detailed feedback, but I think I'm missing something? I cannot access any keys, because the only one I see is behind a locked door. Can you explain what I should do so I may proceed?
If you go in the bottom right of the first level there is two white case. If you step on them you get transport into another room where there is the key for the prison cell.
Ah gotcha! I think an arrow or flash or visual indicator would have lead me to get that on the first time around.
I really like where this is going. Awesome polish on the movement and general level design for the time allotted. It would be cool to be able to queue movement commands as a movement is in progress, makes the game a bit more accessible.
Super fun, the only treasure chest being a mimic felt like a true homage to old school D&D. Brutal difficulty, but I love the corruption track. Having a flat increase instead of a health bar for something like sanity completely changes the feel of it for me.
Thank you for playing, I made a visual update if you want to try it again.
Enemy sprites!!!
